Microsoft Badges for Azure Fundamentals, AI Fundamentals and Data Fundamentals

For those who want to have a solid understanding of any hyperscalers, it is a must that they learn the basics first. And once you are confident that you have learned the basics well, it’s time to test your knowledge by giving the exams and get certified.

I have started my journey with Azure and have completed the three Fundamental Certifications in one week’s time. This blog post will walk you through how to prepare and clear the exams for mentioned certification with flying colors.

  1. Azure Fundamentals

I started the first course with Azure Fundamentals. Azure Fundamentals deals with cloud computing concepts, models, and services, such as public, private, and hybrid cloud. It also deals with infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), and software as a service (SaaS).

Skills Measured:

  • Describe cloud concepts
  • Describe Azure architecture and services
  • Describe Azure management and governance

You can do the following courses to prepare for AZ 900.

AZ-900 Self Placed Learning Path from Microsoft.

2. Azure AI Fundamentals

The second in line for me was tricky to choose from — either you can go for Azure Data Fundamentals or Azure AI Fundamentals is completly upto your choice. I choose the later since I am a student of Web & Data Science and had recent brushes with Machine Learning and AI. Azure AI Fundamental certification demonstrates your knowledge of common AI and machine learning workloads and what Azure services can solve for them.

Skills Measured:

  • Describe Artificial Intelligence workloads and considerations
  • Describe fundamental principles of machine learning on Azure
  • Describe features of computer vision workloads on Azure
  • Describe features of Natural Language Processing (NLP) workloads on Azure

You can do the following courses to prepare for AI 900.

AI-900 Self Placed Learning Path from Microsoft.

3. Azure Data Fundamentals

The last fundamental certification i did was Azure Data Fundamentals. This certification requires a solid understanding of core data concepts, such as relational data, non-relational data, big data, and analytics. The certification also deals with the roles, tasks, and responsibilities in the world of data and data analytics.

Skills Measured:

  • Describe core data concepts
  • Identify considerations for relational data on Azure
  • Describe considerations for working with non-relational data on Azure
  • Describe an analytics workload on Azure

You can do the following courses to prepare for DP 900.

DP-900 Self Placed Learning Path from Microsoft.

Some Tips:

  1. I strongly suggest that one must focus and should prefer the Self Placed Learning Path from Microsoft along with any other course they do from e-learning platform of their choice. The self learning path contains the latest changes and information which one should focus on to clear the exams.
  2. It is highly recommended that we do the exercise available in the self placed learning. It helps us understand the topics well and get us familiarize with Azure dashboard and services.
  3. If possible, Please do the Mock Tests available on Microsoft Enterprise Skills Initiative (Check if your University, Company has a tie-up with Microsoft for same). It’s not open for all.
  4. If you don’t have the option 3, worry not! There are ample amounts of public information available through the Git Repos, Web Pages on these exams. Please do check them to confirming your knowledge before Exam day.

I hope these information helps you crack any of the Azure Fundamental Exam you may be planning to do.

Wish you good luck. Rock it !

Note: Most of the information is taken from Microsoft Pages itself, and I will try to keep it updated if anything changes.
